Mommy & Isa B

One of the hazards of being a single mom is that pictures of the two of us together are few and far between. Admittedly, I really detest having my picture taken, but it would be nice to have a few more photos of me and my girl. Since she's so gorgeous, it's not as though anyone is going to be looking at me anyhow. :) So, here are some of the few I have:

our very first meeting
reading a book at the guesthouse
home a few weeks
I can't believe how much she's grown in the last month.....

Isa B doesn't like the doctor

Well, actually she liked the pediatrician just fine, but the techs who gave her the shots and then did the blood draw weren't her favorite people. The doctor's appointment was last week and Isa B got a clean bill of health at this point. Developmentally on target and up to 16lbs, 7oz!! That means she's gained at least 2 pounds since coming home.

Unfortunately, the trauma of the visit and the effects of the shots meant she was very out-of-sorts for the last week. Gone was my good little sleeper and happy baby. Granted, fussy Isa is still a pretty good baby all told. But, we had finally gotten a fairly consistent routine down and it went completely out the window.

Isa B started solid foods right before her doctor visit. She pretty much refused to open her mouth for the rice cereal. The pediatrician said I could try oatmeal and she tolerated that a little better. I finally decided to try sweet potatoes last night. Well, I couldn't shovel it in fast enough! Apparently my girl doesn't dislike solids, she just dislikes baby cereal.

Mmmmmm..... tasty. And now for the movie version. Please forgive the odd angle and my hands constantly in the way- I had to set up the camera on the table since both hands are required for her dinner!

Oh- and to answer Mary's question from the last comment section-- of course she has socks and barrettes to match every outfit! And Grandma has already been hard at work at the sewing machine.....

Missing in Action

And I do mean "action"!!!

Life as a mom is amazing and somehow the days just fly by. I suddenly realized that it's been over 2 weeks since I posted and I'm sure everyone thinks Isa and I have dropped off the face of the Earth. :) Nope- we've just dropped in the Mommy Zone (which is similar to the Twilight Zone when you remove the diapers and bottles).

Isa continues to be an amazing little one. She's active, vocal (VERY vocal), and happy, happy, happy. The only time she cries is when she's hungry and even then the crying is rather pathetic. She's louder when she's "talking" than when she's crying! Here is a typical Isa moment:

We continue to work on her developmental milestones- she's really not too far behind. Last week I sat her up and she stayed! I frantically ran into the livingroom for the camera and when I got back, she was still upright. (I have since learned to always travel with the camera, even within my own house.....)

We do tummy time every day and Isa pushes up really well. She gets incredibly annoyed at being on her tummy but despite my help with practice rolls, had yet to figure out how to get herself over all on her own. Today, however, she figured it out!

We go to the doctor's next week, so I'll be able to give everyone the official height/weight stats. I was waiting for an insurance issue to clear up in order to be able to make an appointment with the UWMC Adoption Peds Clinic and happily, everything is in place now. So far Isa B is healthy as can be- her little cough seems to be primarily from all the drool from teething. I can't wait until her little teeth come in and no longer soaks her clothes with drool!

Now, if I could just get her to sleep through the night........
